A separate Rookie draft will commence each off-season after the NFL Draft to boost each team's depth and young talent base. This draft will be in inverse order of the final standings and it will be a 4 round draft. Playoff teams will be slotted based on how deep they advance in the playoffs. The UFDL champion will pick last no matter what. The UFDL Runner-up will pick 2nd to last no matter what.
Rookie drafts will be as stated 4 rounds in length and in inverse order of finish from previous season( non snake draft, same order each round ), set up with a salary structure as follows:
Round 1- $3 dollars
Round 2- $2 dollars
Round 3- $1 dollar
Round 4- $1 dollar
1. Contract length is 1 player at 5 yrs, 1 player at 4 yrs, and the remaining players at 3 yrs or less.
2. If you have less than 3 players drafted, than 1 player needs to be at 5 yrs and 1 player needs to be at 4 years.
3. If you have only 1 player drafted than you must sign him to a 5 year deal. There is no way around this as the rules have been set since Day 1.
** Tiebreakers for slotting picks for teams that do not make the playoffs:
Tiebreaker (non-playoff teams):
1. If 2 or more teams tie for the same record in the regular season, then here is the rule regarding this. If Team A beat Team B during the regular season, then Team B will have the higher pick in the rookie draft.
2. If 3 teams are tied for the same record then if Team A loses to both Team B and Team C, then Team A will have the highest pick. Thus, if Team C beat Team B, then Team B would have the next highest pick in the rookie draft. Team C would in turn pick 3rd depending on the rest of the standings for the non-playoff teams.
3. If the rule stated above in #2 is not to this exact circumstance, then the rule changes a bit. Please take note of this as this may happen in future years. For instance, if Team A beat Team B, but lost to Team C, then if Team C beat Team A, but lost to Team B, then there would be a tie between all three teams. The team with the lowest amount of points at the end of the regular season (this does not include your bench, taxi squad, or IR players), will pick first, then the next team with the lowest points would pick, and finally the team with the highest amount of points between these 3 teams would pick last.
4. The Consolation round on Fleaflicker for the non-playoff teams will not be used in determining the draft order ever for these particular teams.
Tiebreaker (playoff teams):
1. The UFDL Champion will pick last. The UFDL Runner-up will pick next to last.
2. Those teams that lost in the Conference Championship round or Round 2 (Week 15) would then be the ones who would pick right before the UFDL Championship participants. This slotting will come down to this and this is only for 2 teams: If Team A beat Team B in the regular season, then Team B would pick higher in the rookie draft.
3. This applies to those teams that lost in Round 1 (Week 14) of the playoffs. This slotting will come down to this and this is only for 2 teams: If Team B beat Team A in the regular season, then Team A would pick higher in the rookie draft.
Here is the breakdown of the playoff teams draft slotting:
Rookie Draft: (playoff teams only)
9. Loser in 1st round of playoffs Team B lost to Team A in regular season (6th place)- from the example above
10. Loser in 1st round of playoffs Team A beat Team B in regular season (5th place)- from the example above
11. One of the losers in the Conference Championship round, Team B lost to Team A in the regular season (4th place)- from the example above
12. The other loser in the Conference Championship round, Team A beat Team B in the regular season. (3rd place)- from the example above
13. UFDL Runner-up, 2nd place finish
14. UFDL Champion, 1st place finish
* No team may have more than 7 draft picks in the entire draft. This is so each team has a decent number of picks heading into each draft to replenish each team's youth and/or depth.
