The schedule for free agent bidding is as follows: ( It will be the same in-season as well as off-season to avoid any confusion)
This process will be done in similar fashion to our draft in which we will bid on players here at the forum, and after a 24 hour period of no other bids on a player he then is won to bidding team. If a new team bids on the same player and ups the offer, then the 24 hour clock restarts for the new bid, until when over a 24 hour period no bids have been made, then the players will be awarded to winning bidder and at that time a contract will be set in place in terms of years as assigned by the winning bidder.
** There is a twist to this though, as to not allow a team to stockpile a handful of guys for a one or 2 yr run , which is , Any player who is bid on for a dollar amount 5 or higher has some contract responsibilities that go along with that . They are as follows:
A $5 bid has a minimum of 3 yr deal.
A $6 bid has a minimum of 4 yr deal.
A $7 bid has a minimum of 5 yr deal.
Any bid that is over $8 dollars will be assigned a 6 yr deal, so you better really love the guy and willing to take that cap hit for 6 years of a contract!!
Again this is to make sure that if you bid on a player you better really want him, and wont be able to do so for the sake of making a trade or attempting to stockpile talent and make a quick run for a title!! Any questions please ask.
If the winning bid was $4 or below then the winning franchise may sign him to a contract of up to 5 years or as low as 1 year. Please indicate whether that player will be on your team's vet roster or taxi squad, so I may update the sheet as needed.
If the team with a winning bid does not post the contract years either by the above rules if applicable or by the team's choice AND the roster designation within 48 hours of the bid being won, then the player that was bid on will be put back into Free Agency. Thus, the player will be eligible to be bid on again by the entire league except the franchise that originally bid on him.
